I'm Engaged! He Proposed and Then We Jumped in the Water!

I can’t believe it…we’re engaged! It’s been a week already and I’m still in shock, but just typing this reminds me with this ring on my finger. So…here’s the story:

For the past few summers, we’ve been spending a week out in Lake Tahoe. It’s only a few hours driving distance, which is perfect for these times when travel is tough. We managed to rent the same house as last year, and although times are different (ie. we can’t use the hot tub), it was a miracle that we were able to get out of the house.

We rented a boat last year to cruise the lake, so of course we had to do it again. My man kept talking about Secret Cove and showed me photos of how blue the water was. That would be our first destination once we get the boat.

We anchor in this smaller cove near the beach, and everyone keeps mentioning how the rocks in our view looked like 2 elephants nudging each other. A few people came by to jump off the elephant heads. My daughter even jumped off of it. So I said I would do it too- but only if it was filmed, because I just don’t go jumping off rocks into the water for nothing.

My man said he would jump with me, and my daughter would film it, so I swam from the boat to the rocks and proceeded to climb up. For some reason he made me go up first, so I went up to wait for him. He finally comes up the rock, and honestly I can’t even remember what he said, but I turned around and he was there ON ONE KNEE and had the prettiest ring in his hand.

I was shocked! I asked him multiple times if he was serious, which he reassured me each time that he was. It finally registered to me and I stood up and said yes and we smooched and he put the ring on my finger. IT FIT! He told me that he’s been working with my daughter for months to get the fit right. I looked off to the distance and she was there smiling with our friends. I can’t believe I had no idea!

He then reminded me we were there to jump off the rock, and if I was ok wearing it to jump in. I was already baffled at how he SWAM to the rock with a diamond ring on his person, but I told him the ring fits so it was going down with me! He then grabbed my hand and we walked over the the edge of the elephant heads and took our first leap together as an engaged couple!

We swam back to the boat, after I checked my finger 100 times to see if the ring was on, and was welcomed with congratulations and stories of how this proposal came to be. It was the perfect mix of planning behind my back and seizing the moment: he knew he wanted to propose in Tahoe, but he just didn’t know when or where, but it turned out to be perfect when we pulled into that cove and I said I wanted to jump off the elephant rocks.

Afterwards, my man took me on a ride on my stand-up paddle board around the cove so we can have some alone time and take it all in. I had a million questions about how because there was no way he could hide something like this! But he did!

What was funny was that a few weeks before, we were listening to a card reader who was sharing what July would be like for Sagittarius (we’re both Sag’s). It was kind of awkward to listen to because she blatantly said that Sag’s would be getting a ring and that was not even on my radar. I joked to him about it and we kept listening, but he confessed on that paddle board that he couldn’t believe how on point that was because he already had the ring- it’s just that I had no idea!

This was really special to me and I couldn’t be any happier that this is part of our love story. Everything from the location, to the rocks, to the surprise, to the people there with us, to the ring, to the jump into the water together….I couldn’t have it any other way. I’m happy that everything lined up magically like that for us to commit to this next level together.

So that’s our proposal story. I don’t have the video yet but once I get it, I’ll be sure to share!
